Music Program

Welcome to the UUFF Music Program Webpage.  Membership in any of our three musical ensembles is open to the public.  There is no requirement to be a member of the Fellowship to sing or ring, just a willingness to participate.  No experience is necessary, though some ability to read music is a plus.  Please read below for information about our individual ensembles. If you have any questions about any of our music ensembles, please contact Jason Michael for more information.

Adult Choir: A twenty-five plus person mixed choir that usually performs every third Sunday of the month from September through June and that makes additional appearances for special events, both at the Fellowship and around town. Repertoire consists of Broadway, Disney, Christmas, Beatles, light classical, and assorted worship-appropriate standards. This season’s selections will include, among many others, “Peace in the Valley,” “Till We Reach that Day” (from Ragtime), “Raise Your Voice” (from Sister Act), “We Are One” and “Pulled” (from The Addams Family Musical). Adult Choir meets on Tuesday evenings from 7:00 to 8:30 pm at the Fellowship.

Handbells: Fifteen ringers combine their talents to perform normally on the first Sunday of every other month. Formerly Hand Chimes, we now ring four-octave handbells and hand chimes, and you never know what else director Jason Michael may throw in. The Handbells have a repertoire of folk songs, hymns, Christmas selections, and hits from the ’70s and ’80s. Handbells meets on Wednesday evenings from 7:15 to 8:30 pm at the Fellowship.

UUth Choir: Our children’s choir is designed for children old enough to read and follow directions. They sing at Sunday services and special events throughout the year. Repertoire this year will include “Heal the World,” “Corner of the Sky” (from Pippin), and “Don’t Stop Believin’”. The UUth Choir meets on Tuesday evenings from 6:00 to 6:50 pm at the Fellowship.

Little Ringers: Our children’s hand chime group is comprised of seven members ranging in age from 6 through 14.  We practice one hour each week on Saturdays from 10:00 – 11:00 September – June.  Our debut performance was Sunday, June 10, 2018.  We plan to perform three times during the year: December 16, March 31, Music Sunday on June 9.  The children learn rhythms, proper ringing techniques, how to read music, as well as how to play as a group.
